Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jack Grealish had to withdraw from the England squad due to injuries.

Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold, 24, underwent treatment on Monday morning after the captain limped off against Aston Villa at Anfield on Sunday.
Alexander-Arnold felt his hamstring when he left the pitch in the second half and was substituted.
Manchester City winger Grealish, 27, missed Saturday’s 5-1 win against Fulham with a slight thigh injury and has since withdrawn from England.

Although it is not clear at this stage how serious Alexander-Arnold’s injury is, it has been decided between club doctors and England that it is prudent for him to sit out the upcoming matches against Ukraine and Scotland. Jurgen Klopp said after the win and Villa’s good performance: “It would be cool if Trent didn’t feel his thigh. We’ll know more after the scan. We hope it’s not serious.

Alexander-Arnold was selected as a central midfielder in Gareth Southgate’s squad and was reportedly considering playing in central midfield against Ukraine.
Full-back Grealish did not play against Fulham after picking up a “slight thigh injury” but is unlikely to be sidelined for too long.

England play Ukraine in their final European Championship qualifier in the Polish city of Wroclaw on Saturday before facing Auld Enemy Scotland in a friendly at Hampden Park next Tuesday. A statement from the England camp read: “Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been ruled out of England’s September game.

“Paris reported to St. George’s Park on Monday but withdrew from the Three Lions squad following a pre-camp injury review.
“All the other players will come as planned, apart from Kieran Trippier, who will arrive on Wednesday due to a personal commitment.
“No further invitations are planned.”
