According to one rumor, Liverpool is one of the teams considering a January transfer for Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.

During the summer transfer season, the Reds looked at options for a left-sided center back. Anfield Watch reported Liverpool’s interest in Levi Colwill before he agreed to fresh terms with Chelsea.

Ryan Gravenberch’s Deadline Day arrival meant that all four of Liverpool’s first-team additions were midfielders, therefore ultimately no defense acquisitions were made.

Since Joel Matip’s contract is up next summer, Virgil van Dijk is getting on in years, and the team lacks a dedicated left-sided center back, Liverpool will likely continue to scout players in future transfer windows as they look for the ideal type of player.

The 24-year-old Kelly of Bournemouth is reportedly on Jurgen Klopp’s Reds’ radar, and his team is ‘considering approaching’ the Cherries about a January transfer.

As to the 90min source, Tottenham and Newcastle are also considering making mid-season offers for Kelly, making Liverpool far from the only team interested in the player.

Before moving for $13 million to Bournemouth in 2019, Kelly, a former England Under-21 player who can play

both left and center back, was rumored to be a target for Liverpool during his time at Bristol City.

Liverpool could be short this season due to a lack of defensive reinforcement. Due to a hamstring injury, Ibrahima Konate has been sidelined for the past two games, while Virgil van Dijk may be facing a prolonged suspension after being charged with inappropriate behavior by the FA.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley, two right backs, are both injured right now.
