Darwin Nunez was allegedly never intended to leave Liverpool during the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Rumors that Liverpool might have traded Darwin Nunez for Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid have been downplayed.

Fabrizio Romano, who has been talking to Caught Offside regarding Nunez, asserts that.

Liverpool reportedly intended to acquire Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid this summer, according to a Mundo Deportivo report from earlier this week.

As part of the agreement, it was rumored that Liverpool would have been willing to send Nunez to Atletico.

As Liverpool prepares to travel to Barcelona, it was impossible to see how they could add Felix to their attack without Nunez, whose running in from behind gives the Reds a unique advantage.

Giving up on Nunez for Felix, who has since joined Barcelona, would have been absurd because neither he nor Chelsea’s other star player Felix really stood out there

Liverpool reportedly intended to acquire Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid this summer, according to a Mundo Deportivo report from earlier this week.

As part of the agreement, it was rumored that Liverpool would have been willing to send Nunez to Atletico.

That sounded strange, and indeed Romano has since denied those rumors.

According to Romano, Nunez was viewed as “untouchable” by Jurgen Klopp and the Reds board, therefore Liverpool never wanted to lose him.

Despite rumors that a trade for Joao Felix was under consideration, Liverpool never wanted Darwin Nunez to depart this summer

according to RRoma

“On the club side, it was pretty evident that the manager and the board had decided to keep Darwin. Darwin was thrilled that Liverpool saw him as untouchable, the source continued.

Darwin Nunez for Joao Felix just didn’t make sense.

Last month, Football Transfers reported that Liverpool was interested in acquiring Felix from Atletico Madrid if Mohamed Salah left.

We downplayed that one, and we’d feel the same way about any Nunez trade.

It’s simply so difficult to believe that Liverpool decided to bring Felix to Anfield after learning about his loan stint at Chelsea.

The Portuguese attacker was expected to become a superstar, but tragically his potential is not being realized.

Expectations were high when Nunez moved from Benfica to Liverpool in a high-profile move less than a year ago.

Although the Uruguayan had been brilliant for Benfica, his first season at Liverpool saw him struggle to score frequently.
