Ethan Ampadu joined Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea from Daniel Farken’s Leeds United in the summer transfer window and his performance for Wales against South Korea on Thursday night will certainly encourage the Elland Road faithful.

Leeds United signed Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.
Ampadu, who can play as a central defender or defensive midfielder, initially cost Leeds £7m (The London Evening Standard) in transfers.
The 22-year-old failed to make an impact at Chelsea but has already started to impress at Leeds.
The Wales international has played for Leeds five times in the Championship and twice in the EFL Cup this season.

Until this campaign, Ampadu has mainly featured in defensive midfield for the West Yorkshire club, but has also played in central defence.
Ampadu started in midfield against Wales against South Korea at the Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff on Thursday night.

The report rated his performance 7/10 but said: “Excellent in the middle of the park.
“Did brilliantly and broke the game open in the opening moments. A very pleasant trip.”

During his time at Chelsea, Ampadu failed to get enough places in the first team.
The 22-year-old player has been loaned to RB Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia.

Now that Ampadu has moved to Leeds on a permanent deal and is playing regularly, he could return to his best and develop as a footballer.
The fact that the youngster has almost 50 caps for Wales shows how good he is and what potential he has.
And he is now only 22 years old.
