For years you may have heard Man United fans trying to argue that Paul Scholes is better than Steven Gerrard, but there is no better judge than the man himself!

It’s a timeless debate that doesn’t seem to have been resolved, but the former Man United midfielder has had his say on the matter.

Fans of the two clubs have endlessly debated which of the former England internationals was the better player, but Scholes seems to have the Liverpool crowd backing him.

Speaking to FIVE in an interview, Scholes admitted he doesn’t think he could have done what Gerrard did in a Liverpool shirt.

“I can’t answer that… Gerrard is a great player,” he joked when asked about the debate.

“I’m not saying that myself, we’re different, very different. He is an athlete, he was more of a match winner, but he was probably in the team where he was needed.

“I belonged more to the team, in his opinion it was more individual. I couldn’t do what he did at Liverpool, I don’t know if he could do what I did at United. I don’t see why not, I don’t think I could do what he did at Liverpool.

This is music for Liverpool fans who now have the perfect ammunition the next time they engage in such a conversation with a Man United supporter.

Scholes enjoyed a glittering career that saw him win 11 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues, but even he admits Gerrard was the better man from an individual perspective

. The former Liverpool captain almost single-handedly led his team to a historic fifth European Cup win in Istanbul in 2005.

His performance in the FA Cup Final against West Ham 12 months later was later dubbed

“The Gerrard Final”, perhaps his most influential performance for the club.
We didn’t even think it was a conversation, but we can definitely end it now!
