If Liverpool is not competing for the title, Al-Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League is allegedly confident of signing Mohamed Salah in January. The winger has remained at Anfield, but in the upcoming winter transfer window, interest is expected to reignite.

Al-Ittihad was defeated by Liverpool late in the summer window. A verbal bid of up to £150 million for their star forward was turned down.

According to reports this week, the Saudi club was ready to make a second offer that might have reached £220 million with add-ons. But Liverpool made it clear that they would not, under any circumstances, sell Salah as long as they couldn’t find a suitable replacement.

Their position will, however, be put to the test once more in the middle of this season. According to The Mirror, Al-Ittihad has not given up on signing Salah.

But once it is known whether Liverpool are in a Premier League title fight, they will decide at the last minute whether to pursue him in January. Manchester City is once more the heavy favorite to win their fourth straight championship.

The only team with a perfect record in the English top flight is Pep Guardiola’s team, who have had a great start to the season. However, Liverpool has only lost one game and is currently third in the standings.

Al-Ittihad, according to The Mirror, think Liverpool will be open to conducting business if they aren’t in the running for a second title in four years. However, they are aware that if Liverpool is vying for first place, it will be practically difficult.

Therefore, the Saudi team needs a favor from City to maintain their chances of signing Salah. Under Guardiola, City has a history of sluggish season starts before improving after the holidays.

Despite scoring twice and dishing out two assists in Liverpool’s first four games of the season, Salah has had a quiet start. He only committed to the club until the summer of 2025 by signing a new deal at Anfield in May 2022.

Saudi leaders were willing to give Salah an astounding £1.5 million per week. They’ll give it another shot in January, but Liverpool will be hoping Salah remains at least for the remainder of the season for a number of reasons.
