praises Jesse Lingard as he continues to practice with West Ham as a free agent midfielder.

Following his departure from Nottingham Forest, the Hammers gave their ex-player the opportunity to maintain his fitness throughout the summer by utilising the club’s amenities.

At the time, it was believed that Lingard’s return was more of a show of goodwill than a genuine chance for him to land a contract.

However, Moyes has praised the 30-year-old’s development since returning to West Ham.

Jesse has been working out with us for three weeks, and he has made significant progress since he first arrived, he told talkSPORT.

He’s in excellent shape right now, considerably better than when he initially arrived.

“I have to admit, I believe Jesse made the difference in us qualifying for Europe for the first time [under me] when he joined us two years ago. He scored nine goals in 15 games.

“I want to give him every chance to get better on his own before I see how he does.

There isn’t really an update at the moment, other than to say that he’s back and approaching the levels of fitness you’d expect he would be at.
