We are pleased to welcome injury specialist Dr. Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Every week he shares his views on Leeds United’s injury situation…

Leeds United defender Sam Byram will be out for up to 12 weeks with an adductor injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury specialist confirms that although it is only a strain in the current situation, he could miss up to a few months in the worst case scenario.
The 29-year-old returned to Leeds on a free transfer this summer and has become part of the Manager’s plans. Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Physiotherapy and Sports Research Specialist Brar said of Byram:

“The injury is a serious injury to a muscle group on the inside of the leg called the adductor group, which is one of the most commonly injured muscle groups in soccer players.

“His rehabilitation and return to play follow the same principles as any other muscle rehabilitation – building strength and mobility in the area and gradually introducing higher intensity exercises that eventually mimic the action on the field.
“The worst case scenario is a grade 3 tear, which usually means 12 weeks.”

The 29-year-old returned to training with the senior team in the summer to regain fitness for the transfer window.
He seemed to impress Daniel Farke and others. and was given a first-team contract at Elland Road.

He started the season as preferred left-back when Junior Firpo was injured, but Jamie Shackleton started in his place against Sheffield Wednesday.
