Liverpool have announced their squad for the 2023/24 Europa League season, with Jurgen Klopp opting to leave out Adrian.
Klopp’s 23-man senior squad for six group games has been named for the Reds, who are preparing for life outside the Champions League for the first time since 2016.
As This Is Anfield’s David Lynch reported earlier this month, Adrian was left out of the squad with just 17 A-listers available.
Although the UEFA gap could still see him if Alisson or Caoimhin Kelleher are injured for an extended period.
The deadline for clubs to submit their squad lists to UEFA has just passed, with a maximum of 25 players allowed on the A-list. A minimum of eight of those places must be allocated to “locally trained” players and a maximum of four can be “jointly trained”.
Teams can also register an unlimited number of players on their “B List”, which consists of players born on or after 01/01/2002 who have spent at least two years visiting their club.
These limitations left Klopp with a difficult decision to make, having to drop one player from his squad following the signing of Ryan Gravenberch.
Vitezslav Jaros and Bobby Clark are both listed on the team page as part of the A-list, with the former considered a club-trained player and the latter an association-trained player.
Otherwise, there are no surprises in the Liverpool squad to play LASK, Union SG and Toulouse in a double header.
The Reds have been drawn into Sub-Group E in this season’s competition and will begin their campaign on September 21 with an away game against LASK.
Klopp will be hoping to reach a fifth European final in Dublin, having qualified for the spectacle in Basel when the team last played in the competition.
