Goalkeeper Adrian was left out of Liverpool’s European squad in place of Ben Doak and Bobby Clarke.

In the Premier League, team rules require that a player aged 21 or under does not need to be registered to play. In Europe, things get a little more complicated, as UEFA only allows younger players who have been at the club for at least two years to progress.

In the past, that has meant making way for Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic, both of whom have now spent the necessary time at Anfield. While Elliott and Bajcetic don’t need a spot this year – and neither does Jarell Quansah or Marcelo Pitaluga – Ben

Doak and Bobby Clark do.
As expected, goalkeeper Adrian was sidelined to make way. The exception was that Liverpool did so by relying on a loophole that allowed unregistered goalkeepers to be reserved in case of long-term illness or injury. However, this is not the first option.

That’s because Vitezslav JaroÅ¡, who qualifies as a club trainee and could be included in the aforementioned 23-man squad, has been named third behind Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher. However, if both Alisson and Kelleher are injured, Adrian could be included.
