Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp gave highly-rated youngster Fabio Carvalho his blessing to head out on loan to RB Leipzig this summer, but his opportunities have been limited

After making an impression on RB Leipzig’s head coach Marco Rose during the international break, Farbio Carvalho is anticipated to be given the opportunity to stake a claim for a first-team position.

Carvalho, 21, moved from Fulham to Liverpool last summer but failed to find consistent playing time. This season, the talented winger was given the all-ahead to go out on loan and connected with Leipzig in June. The intention of the move was to give Carvalho more playing time, but so far this season, he has only logged 18 minutes of football.

However, it appears that Carvalho will play a bigger part once the domestic competition picks back up. This could provide his parent club the opportunity to monitor their talented young player in the hopes that he would establish himself at Anfield the following season.

According to German magazine BILD, Carvalho will replace the injured Dani Olmo in the coming weeks after impressing Rozo following personal talks during the international break. Carvalho ironically remained in Germany during the break after deciding to stop representing the Portugal U21 national team in November.
While talks with Rozo appear to be paying off for Carvalho, he made it clear that he would not be in regular contact with Klopp when he agreed to leave his parent club for the season in the summer. Carvalho told German media shortly after his move to Leipzig was confirmed: “I don’t speak to him to be honest. He hasn’t really given me any advice. I just had to learn along the way and I feel like I’m maturing better anyway.”

Carvalho was limited to just 13 Premier League games, including just four starts, despite playing a pivotal role for Fulham in their promotion campaign back in 2021–2022.

The home jersey for Liverpool in the 2023–2024 season is a tribute to Bill Shankly and his final campaign as the Reds’ manager at Anfield. The Nike shirt has a vivid red design with contrasting white cuffs and color.
