Liverpool suffered two defensive injuries at the break and Jurgen Klopp gave good and bad news on injuries to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate ahead of the trip to Wolves.

Shortly after the manager admitted that Liverpool needed “luck” with back injuries, he had problems with Konate and Alexander-Arnold.
When you throw Virgil van Dijk’s suspension into the mix, it leaves quite a void to fill, including at right-back, as he confirmed the No.66 will not be available for the trip to Wolves.

“Don’t worry [about his injury], he’s not available,” Klopp told reporters. “We knew that before. He never practiced with the national team, it takes time.
“Not the worst hamstring injury you can have, but it’s a hamstring injury. They barely heal in two weeks and it didn’t happen.

“He’s already running, but we’re hoping he can start ball work early next week, but we’ll see.”

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – Saturday 2 September 2023: Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is injured during the FA Premier League match between Liverpool FC and Aston Villa FC at Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold was given a two-week recovery period against Aston Villa and took part in individual training on Thursday. Liverpool don’t want to rush him back into action every Wednesday and weekend before the October international break, and that leaves Joe Gomez to fill the void on the right.

The good news is that Konate is back in squad training and “trained with the squad for two days”, meaning he will be available for the trip to Wolves.

The Frenchman has missed the last two wins as well as the international break against France with a horn injury and is expected to play alongside Joel Matip.

In other injury news, Thiago is “in the running” and Darwin Nunez is “out” in Uruguay with muscle complaints.
