Salah surpasses Robbo’s rare day of over 200 – 4 key stats Wolves 1-3 Liverpool

This allowed Wolves to take an early lead and, true to form, the Reds were fortunate to go into the break with just one goal, but Liverpool punished the hosts.

Cody Gakpo, Andy Robertson and Harvey Elliott helped turn a dreadful first half into a winner and FotMob provided the perfect visualization as the match turned on its head.

Oh, how the tables have turned

No wonder Klopp’s thinking in the first half was “WTF”, with his team reactive and second best, Joe Gomez out of place in the rotation and Alexis Mac Allister tired.

As you can see from the graphic above, Wolves had momentum in the opening 45, scoring early and nullifying Liverpool with their pressure as they got the better of Klopp’s side in midfield.

But the red tide soon arrived and it was when Liverpool switched to a 4-4-2 in the second half, with Luis Diaz replacing Mac Allister and the team finally playing to their strengths.

From just five shots and zero big chances in the first half to 11 shots and five big chances in the second half, Klopp was able to turn the game on its head and his team used their momentum.

And in doing so, he took Liverpool’s league goal tally to 201 (139 goals, 62 assists) – only the second Red to reach that mark. Steven Gerrard was the first.

Salah achieved the incredible feat in just 223 games, with only Thierry Henry reaching the same milestone in fewer games.

How lucky are we to watch him week after week?

When Robertson says goals don’t come too often, he wasn’t lying. He had just eight before the trip to Wolves and his marksmanship often left a lot to be desired.
Not today though.

A lovely first touch preceded a gallop forward, then a pass to Salah and an explosive charge into the box before a sublime first goal.
Two passes were enough. Eight seconds from the first touch to the ball flying into the net.
We could watch this over and over again!

He did well, didn’t he? He did very well, it was very good, it’s nice for him, a great experience, assessed Klopp after the match.

We cannot agree.

Where others fumbled early, Jarell Quansah put it together and it was as if it was one of many performances, rather than his first outing for Liverpool, a huge addition to the 20-year-old who shone.

Another bright young talent, we can never have too many!
