Mohamed Salah’s place as the most popular name in a Liverpool shirt has been taken, with the club revealing their top 10 for the 2023/24 season.

In the last two seasons, Salah has been the best-selling name and number on Liverpool shirts, according to LFC Retail.

But the Egyptian has now been dethroned as supporters’ favourite, with Dominik Szoboszlai in pole position for the 2023/24 season.

Szoboszlai is one of two new signings in the club’s top 10, with Alexis Mac Allister in the third, while there are two new additions from last season’s list in Alisson and Cody Gakpo.

Salah dropped to second place, Darwin Nunez dropped two places, Luis Diaz went up four places and Virgil van Dijk three places.

Alisson’s inclusion is interesting because goalkeeper shirts don’t usually sell as well as away shirts.

Thiago and Harvey Elliott have both dropped out of the top 10 entirely since the end of last season, while Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson have also fallen.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Szoboszlais has become so popular with fans, and not just because of the excitement surrounding his £60m move from RB Leipzig.

The Hungarian captain took the No.8 shirt vacated by Naby Keita but made famous by Steven Gerrard and his performances so far have justified his billing.

Notable omissions from Liverpool’s top 10 are Ibrahima Konate, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones, while Ryan Gravenberch clearly arrived too late.

1. Dominik Szoboszlai – 8
2. Mohamed Salah – 11
3. Alexis McAllister – 10
4. Trent Alexander-Arnold – 66
5. Darwin Nunez – 9th
6. Ludovico Diaz –
7. Alisson –
8. Virgil van Dijk –
9.Cody Steel – 18
10. Andy Robertson – 26
