The World Cup winner became the first of the Reds’ four midfield signings at the start of the summer and wasted no time establishing himself in the squad.

It was far from plain sailing when he was dropped in the first home game of the season against Bournemouth and replaced after a difficult opening 45 minutes at Wolves.

That didn’t seem to worry the boss too much, as Mac Allister revealed his strong relationship with Klopp was the subject of playful banter from his peers.

“Many of my teammates make fun of me because they say [Klopp] is my father now. The relationship with him is perfect, he is a very charismatic person who always tries to be close to the players,” the midfielder told La Nacion.
