The latest Leicester City news as the goalkeeper recorded his first clean sheet for the club in the 2-0 win over Norwic thanks to a brilliant second-half save

Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen said training helped him make an impressive save against Norwich City as he recorded his first clean sheet for the club.

City picked up their second win of the week with a 2-0 victory at Carrow Road but had to turn to Hermansen to help them hold onto their lead in the second half. Kelechi Iheanacho’s penalty late in the opening half put City 1-0 up.

Norwich equalized with Shane Duffy confident of leading them level. But Hermansen was there to take it down somehow before gathering a following.

Hermansen responded to the “great” save in an interview with Sky Sports after the game. He described how such scenarios are practiced in training.

“I think it’s a great save,” he remarked. “Of course, it was a difficult, tricky ball, but I managed to keep it out, which is the most important thing.”

“Of course, I just used everything I had to get my hands up there.” We practice these situations all the time in practice, and you’re hoping to see one in the game.”

The Dane also recorded his first Championship clean sheet, with the only other one coming when he was injured and Jakub Stolarczyk played. Hermansen lauded the performance of the defense in front of him.

“Great defense as always, we’re unlucky not to have more clean sheets than we do,” he remarked. Getting the first one is a terrific sensation.”

The save proved critical, as City gained breathing room with three minutes remaining in the game. Kasey McAteer makes it 2-0 after completing a fantastic counter-attacking team move.
