“The will to achieve” was a key quality Leicester City showed at Norwich to earn a sixth straight win and send them back into the Championship promotion places.
Kelechi Iheanacho and Kasey McAteer scored as City won 2-0 at Carrow Road and improved their perfect away record.
And manager Enzo Maresca has told his players that their commitment is key and that his tactics and work on the training ground will only take them so far.
City had to withstand intense pressure from the hosts and top scorer in the Championship going into Wednesday’s game, especially in the second half. But they held on for their second league title of the season and goalkeeper Mads Hermansen’s first.
It was a very good performance, especially for the opponent. They had the best attack, scoring 15 goals. I watched all their games and usually they score goals and create chances.
“To be honest, especially in the first half, we didn’t give ourselves chances. We pressed like we did against Southampton. Very aggressive. We tried to do our thing on the ball. It was a bit more difficult because they went man to man, so the only free man was the goalkeeper, so we had to use Mads.
We tried connecting Mads with Kele and also some longer solutions.
“But the last two games, Southampton and Norwich, the six points, the way we played on and off the ball, the clean sheets tonight, I think is very important.
Maresca added: “I have said many times that the championship is 46 games, so you cannot think about competing with 12, 13, 14 players. It is impossible. You need 20 players and we will try to get them all in there..
