Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez were among the stars in Liverpool’s 3-1 win against LASK on Thursday night, but one man really struggled.
Jurgen Klopp’s men started the game slowly again after Florian Flecker’s thunderbolt from outside the area, but hit back impressively.

Nunez equalized with a second-half penalty, Diaz fired home to put the Reds ahead and Mohamed Salah completed the three points at the end of the day.

It was the perfect start to Liverpool’s Europa League campaign, as the Reds are currently among the favorites for this season’s competition.
The highest rated was Luis Diaz (8.0) who hit his goal brilliantly and was a huge selling point for Liverpool.

The 26-year-old appears to have overcome the knee injury that sidelined him for most of last season and remains a very important player for Klopp.

David Lynch of TIA named Diaz his star player of the night, stating that he “did better than any other hitter, forcing runs off the board.”

Next was Nunez (7.5), whose promising start to the season continues in the scoring.
The Uruguayan was a threat all night, using his pace and goal threat to his advantage and converted his penalty with ease.

Ian Doyle of the Echo felt that Nunez was a “recurring player” causing problems for LASK defenders, and FotMob noted that he played four times, giving him an 8.6 rating.

Ryan Gravenberch (7.3) rounded out the top three after a promising Liverpool debut, setting up Diaz for a superb finish.

Goalkeeper Peter McVitie said the Dutchman made “smart passes and quick decisions” for the Reds, adding that he did “remarkably well” with the pass.

Worst overall player of the night was Wataru Endo (5.1) and the midfielder looked a long way off.

Now it’s a quick turnaround for Liverpool, who host West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon (2pm UK).
