Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is apparently close to signing a new contract and that could help

Liverpool land him.
Reports a few weeks ago suggested the Reds had made a bid of around £100m for Guimaraes, but the Magpies rejected the offer outright.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Guimaraes has signed a new contract with a release clause that is of great interest to the Reds.

Bruno Guimaraes’ new contract has a £100 million release clause
Taking to social media via his X account this morning, Romano confirmed that Newcastle have signed Bruno to a new contract until 2028.

However, the deal includes a release clause of around £100m. Of course, this will prick up Liverpool’s ears as the bid was rejected at the same stadium.

ANOTHER LIVERPOOL STORY

So it seems that if Liverpool want to go to midfield again, there is a chance to do so.
Newcastle United – Liverpool FC – Premier League.

Of course, Bruno is still happy on Tyneside and something would have to change for him to want to move to Anfield.
But with Liverpool willing to pay £100m, the clause is sure to cause some confusion in future windows.

One to watch
While we don’t expect Bruno to move anywhere anytime soon, it will certainly be interesting to see Newcastle add that £100m clause to the deal.

That means a deal could well be done if all the ducks are in a row, and it’s one that Liverpool will certainly be looking at.

If we could somehow sign him, that would be a pretty good signing.
