Liverpool have started the new Premier League season in good form and Jurgen Klopp has a wide range of attacking options to include Mohamed Salah.

Jürgen Klopp was very pleased

After Liverpool deservedly beat West Ham United at Anfield, there was another game at the Emirates Stadium with more eyes – at least in the UK, where it was the only game televised. Arsenal 2-2 Spurs.

A draw with both sides dropping points is a fitting result for Liverpool. There are now two points between Liverpool and the two north London clubs in the Premier League table, with Brighton 15 points adrift. Only Manchester City have collected more points than Jürgen Klopp’s men so far.

Although it was Liverpool’s third consecutive 3-1 win, the Reds did not have to come from behind this time. They did not start quickly, going ahead with a Mohamed Salah penalty and then scoring two more goals (Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota).

These goalscorers show Liverpool’s clear advantage over their rivals. Manchester City may have Erling Haaland and Julián Álvarez, but Klopp has a much wider range of strikers. Liverpool can score from any of their attacking positions.

The gap is much wider for both Arsenal and Spurs. With Klopp fielding Jota, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott, Mikel Arteta’s strikers were Reiss Nelson and Ange Postecoglou, with Manor sending Soloman and Richarlison.

None of the trio are bad players, but none are as good as any of the five senior strikers Liverpool currently have at their disposal. Gakpo was brilliant when he stepped onto the pitch and showed good skill and possession, while Jota scored a trademark close range goal. While Arsenal are already four points off the top of the Premier League table and Spurs have been the talk of the town despite the loss of Harry Kane in the summer, Liverpool have the best chance of challenging.

The Reds next two games will give a real indication of the level they can reach this season. Next up is Tottenham before a trip to Brighton. Both games are away from home. Everton (H), Nottingham Forest (H) and Luton Town (A) come after the next international break.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have Bournemouth (A), Manchester City (H), Chelsea (A), Sheffield United (H) and Newcastle (A), while Spurs face Liverpool (H), Luton (A), Fulham (A). H), Crystal Palace (A) and Chelsea (H). Each race has tough contests that really test where each race is at.

Early movers Manchester City face Wolves (A), Arsenal (A), Brighton (H), Manchester United (A) and Bournemouth (H). A couple of these games can be difficult. Liverpool’s challenge is clear: to win regularly. Pick up four points from their next two games – Spurs and Brighton – and as the season approaches the quarter-final stage, the title race could be quietly settled. There should be no surprise with Klopp’s attacking firepower.
