Clarence Seedorf predicts Ryan Gravenberch’s fate after signing for Liverpool

Dutch legend Clarence Seedorf spoke to Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch

Clarence Seedorf played down the Ryan Gravenberch comparisons but has high hopes for the Liverpool midfielder’s career.

The Reds’ summer signing broke the legendary Dutchman’s record at Ajax when he became the club’s youngest player to make his debut under Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag at the age of 16.

Gravenberch is looking to regain his credentials after a disappointing season at Bayern Munich. His time in Bavaria resulted in just three league starts as he made 34 appearances during his one-year stay in Munich.

He made his second Premier League appearance late in the evening against West Ham United after coming on as a substitute against Wolverhampton Wanderers. In the Europa League tie against LASK, Gravenberch made his full debut and impressed as the Reds came away with a win in Austria.

Seedorf believes the young Dutch midfielder has a great career ahead of him. However, he was quick to dismiss pressure to compare the Liverpool midfielder with the four-time Champions League winner.

“Everyone is unique, Ryan started early, he broke my record as the youngest player to debut at Ajax, which comes with a lot of responsibility,” he said, speaking to FUTBin.

– He is on his way, I believe in him, I believe he can have a great career. Let him go his own way, everyone has his own destiny.”

Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on Gravenberch on his full Liverpool debut before being sent off against the Austrian Bundesliga with what was later diagnosed as cramp.

“He did very well,” Klopp said. – He was definitely the best player on the field for a long time.

“But in the first half, the frustration [of the Liverpool players grew] and you could see him a bit wrong. It’s normal, things like that happen.”
