Liverpool will turn their attention to the Carabao Cup when they welcome Leicester City to Anfield in the third round on Wednesday (7.45pm BST).

No club in history has won the competition more times than the Reds. They have lifted the silverware a total of nine times – most recently in the 2021-2022 season, when they beat Chelsea on penalties in the Wembley final.

Jurgen Klopp will no doubt want another victory to win the trophy as his side have the talent to fight on several fronts this campaign. Liverpool have made a brilliant start to the Premier League season, picking up 16 points from their opening six matches – most recently a 3-1 win over West Ham United. But Klopp is not underestimating Leicester at all. In the formative phase of the season, the Foxes return to the top group for the first time. They sit at the top of the championship table. Ahead of the clash, here’s the latest team news from both sides.

1. Conor Bradley – Out

The right-back could have featured in that game had he been fit, but he is sidelined until November with a stress fracture.

2. Reeling Gordon – Out

The 19-year-old made his debut for Liverpool in this competition two seasons ago. He returned from a 19-month absence earlier this season but is now nursing an ankle injury.

3. Thiago Alcantara – Out

The midfielder missed training last week and has not played since April with a hip injury.

4. Trent Alexander-Arnold – Major doubt
