Jamie Carragher picks Sancho vs Ten Hag after examples from Klopp and Guardiola

Jamie Carragher has explained why Erik ten Hag is right about his ongoing spat with Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, while the examples of Liverpool and Manchester City were cited in the Dutch manager’s defence.

Sancho v Ten Hag is just one of the many off-tone stories that have disrupted Man Utd’s harmony in recent months.

Mason Greenwood’s future and allegations of domestic violence against Antony also contributed to the bad feeling around the club. With Greenwood now on loan at Getafe and Antony given time off while trying to clear his name, Sancho vs Ten Hag took center stage.

The saga began when Ten Hag claimed Sancho’s lack of commitment to training was the reason for his surprise absence from the Premier League clash with Arsenal at the start of September. Sancho took to social media to blast his manager, claiming he was the scapegoat. The United winger also called Ten Hag a liar about his training program.

Sancho was later removed from first team training after consistently refusing to apologize to Ten Hag. So far, neither side has shown any signs of backing down.

Now, appearing on the first episode of the Stick to Football podcast, pundit Jamie Carragher has explained why he believes Sancho is wrong. Carragher cited Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and Man City manager Pep Guardiola as two examples of ruthless managers who deserve praise for being tough on their players.

Guardiola’s demand to replace Joao Cancelo has been mentioned – despite the Portuguese having worn a City shirt in recent years.

Ten Hag does what Klopp, Guardiola would do; Sancho ‘was terrible’ – Carragher

“I’m with that manager,” said Carragher. – Usually in these situations we don’t know anything that happened behind the scenes, but I’m usually with the manager.

“Think about Ten Hag and what he has to achieve and we are delighted with Jurgen Klopp in those situations or just a few months ago Pep Guardiola with [Joao] Cancelo who was a great player for them but he was gone. Sold. They can handle these situations and we say they are strong leaders and very ruthless.

“Ten Hag almost can’t afford to lose this fight. He came out and I don’t think it’s massive,” he said at the post-match press conference.

– He was asked why Sancho is not in the team and the answer is that he did not train properly.

“Because Ten Tag is going through a very difficult period – Man Utd didn’t start the season well – we say he lost the dressing room, but if he wins we say he is ruthless, he dealt with the situation and he was sent off. message dressing room’ . “I’m always with the manager on that. It’s not even harsh criticism – did he train properly? He was terrible – he was very bad because of how much he cost Manchester United and his reputation.
