Liverpool face Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday and we simulate the EA FC 24 game to predict the result.

After a controversial Premier League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool will have to focus and turn their attention to the Europa League when they host Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday night.

Liverpool suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend after losing 2-1 to Tottenham in the Premier League. But a VAR dispute overshadowed the final result as Luis Diaz mistakenly missed a goal after a crucial human error. The Reds were also reduced to nine men after Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones were sent off.

However, both Jones and Jota will be available on Thursday night when Liverpool welcome the Belgian premiership leaders to Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently top of Group E after beating LASK 3-1 in their campaign opener and will be looking to make it two wins on the trot against Union.

We simulated Liverpool vs Union Saint-Gilloise to get a prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 24 and updated the teams with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Liverpool could be in a 4-3-3 formation with: Kelleher; Aleksander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Endo, Jones, Gravenberch; Doak, Nunez, Jota

We predict that the visitors can line up in 3-4-3 with the following line-up: Moris; MacAllister, Burgess, Lejsen; Castro-Montes, Sadiki, Vanhoutte, Lapoussin; Amani, Nilsson, Puertas.

Liverpool had an early scare when Kostas Tsimikas’ loose back pass was played into Cameron Puertas’ goal, but after Caoimh Kelleher’s round, captain Virgil van Dijk brilliantly kept the shot off the line. And just moments later, the Reds took the lead at the other end.

Van Dijk whipped in Ben Doak’s pass from the right and the full-back picked out Darwin Nunez’s shot towards the box early on. After a touch with his foot, the striker initially managed to block the shot, but luckily for Nunez, the ball fell back to him and he smashed it into the net from a narrow angle. Doak made it 2-0 just before the break when a one-two with Nunez sent the youngster through, but his curler could only hit the post as he waited for his first goal of the competition. Liverpool made changes in the second half in search of a second and Diaz doubled their lead minutes after being introduced to seal the three points for the home side.

Jones won the ball back on the halfway line with a well-timed slip and then threw the ball to Harvey Elliott, who lifted the ball over the defense for Diaz to chase down. A heavy touch from Colombia prompted the Union keeper to jump off his line, but Diaz was quick enough to beat him to the ball and fire home.
