Brighton are reluctant to include a release clause in star winger Kaoru Mitoma’s potential new contract, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (October 6) that the Seagulls are confident of reaching a deal for the 26-year-old soon.
Mitoma’s current deal only runs until June 2025, with several elite Premier League clubs considering a potential move for his services.
Despite this, his new contract is unlikely to contain a release clause.
A well-placed source told Football Insider that a buyout clause was “against Brighton’s business”. Moises Caicedo did not have a release clause in his contract after reportedly signing a £115m move to Chelsea in the summer window.

The Ecuador international signed a new deal at Brighton in March but was allowed to leave the south coast club just under six months later.
Meanwhile, the Seagulls are believed to have reached a verbal agreement with Alexis MacAllister, allowing him to join Liverpool in the summer relegation window.
The Reds paid an initial reported fee of just £35m, rising to £55m after add-ons.
Mitoma fits the same talent as the duo that left for a good start to the new season. The right-footed player has three goals and four assists in 10 games in all competitions.
He scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances as the Seagulls finished a historic sixth last season.
The Japan international currently earns £10,000-a-week but is expected to receive a handsome rise with a potential new deal.
