Liverpool youngster Ben Doak was widely praised for his performance in Scotland Under-21s’ 1-0 defeat to Spain.

The 17-year-old, who has been part of the Reds’ Premier League side this season, led the young Scotland Under-21s in a Euro 2025 qualifier against Spain.

Doak, who has risen rapidly through the ranks at Anfield since signing from Celtic last summer, has continued his explosive development with sensational performances on the continent, leaving fans in Scotland, Spain and Liverpool wanting more.

Spanish user @DavidAngulo89 wrote on X, previously on Twitter: “What a great footballer Scotland and Liverpool have in Ben Doak. What a diamond, 17 years old and pure fire.”

@AmaroJonay wrote: “Ben Doak. The electricity, the confidence, the ability to keep the ball and the ability to drop to the side and create danger. Best in the game, honestly. I look forward to seeing him in the Premier League with Liverpool.

Meanwhile, @CarlosLozanofut called the Liverpool and Scotland youngster “probably the best player” and a “constant threat”.

In his glowing review of Doak, @AlvaroRodrgz_ wrote: “How good is Ben Doak, Scotland U21’s best player. 17 years old. What explosiveness, speed and courage, very good.

Another Spanish supporter posted: “Ben Doak. Electricity, confidence, control and ability to drop his shoulder and create danger. Best in the game, honestly. Looking forward to seeing him in the Premier League with Liverpool.

One Liverpool fan added: “Ben Doak, what a player! He makes these Spanish players look like statues. He’s an absolutely phenomenal talent. I can’t believe we got this guy!”

However, Doak’s eye-catching performance not only impressed the supporters, it also impressed Scotland Under-21 coach Scott Gemmill.

“It was an exceptional performance by Ben Doak,” Gemmill said (via the Daily Record). “Plus there’s more to come. He’s not fully fit now because his playing time is limited because he’s at such a good club.

“Imagine full Ben Doak! I thought it was a really great show and I hope everyone saw it. Kudos to the players for sticking to the game plan. I’m not really disappointed because I’m really proud of the players.
