Ex- Spur star Harry Kane explains his feelings about returning to Tottenham after clearing his transfer clause

Former Tottenham star Harry Kane has spoken glowingly of his old club, who could still try to re-sign him after insisting on a buy-back clause in talks with Bayern Munich.

Harry Kane has admitted he will always look at Tottenham after Daniel Levy confirmed a buy-back clause was included in the contract that took him to Bayern Munich.

Kane, 30, left his boyhood club in the summer transfer window just 12 months after trying to engineer a move to Manchester City last year. And while Spurs stood firm then, this time they reluctantly cashed in on their talisman, who could have left for nothing when his contract expired next summer.

Despite losing their star striker before the season, Tottenham are thriving under new manager Ange Postecoglou. Spurs are currently top of the Premier League – and Kane, who has finally left to chase silverware, hinted he is sticking around for his old club ahead of England’s clash with Australia.

Speaking to the media, the England captain said: “It’s great to see. I think I’ve said before, the manager is doing great for them with the way they’re playing. The fans are right behind the team and it’s definitely what they needed after the last few years.

“I’ll always keep an eye on Spurs and the Premier League. Of course, there’s still along way to go, but like the manager said, there’s no reason why the fans shouldn’t be excited and happy with the way things are going. I hope they can continue.

– I have made it clear throughout my career that I am a Tottenham fan and I want Tottenham to do well. There is no team in the Premier League I would rather beat than Tottenham.

“I also have to respect Bayern Munich and of course the fans know that I will always have a soft spot for Spurs – no doubt about that – but I have to focus all my attention on Bayern Munich and we will do the best we can.”

Kane’s comments are unlikely to quell speculation from some fans that Kane is looking to return to Spurs in the future. Tottenham chairman Levy confirmed at a fan forum last month that the club included a buy-back clause in the £100m fee that took Kane to Germany in August. However, Sky Sports News later outlined the details of the clause, which make it clear that Tottenham will effectively have first refusal if Bayern Munich accept any bids for Kane in the future.

Kane has signed a four-year contract with the German champions and has already reiterated his desire to win silverware with his new team.
