Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has had a rocky start to his coaching career in Saudi Arabia, with his Al-Ettifaq side currently in seventh place after nine games.

Steven Gerrard’s son Lio is showing traits that could help him follow in his father’s famous footsteps – with one major difference.

The Liverpool legend and husband Alex have four children: three daughters and their six-year-old son. The family are currently in Saudi Arabia after Gerrard Sr took charge of Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.

After signing former Anfield team-mate Jordan Henderson, Gerrard’s side are currently in seventh place after nine league games. Five wins and two draws left them on 17 points, six ahead of Al-Hilal. But the 43-year-old still found time to focus on the development of his own son. And this week she posted an all-encompassing video to her 11.6 million Instagram followers.

Footage of Liosta putting his father through his penalty brought to mind how his father ended his illustrious career, which saw him score 185 goals for the Reds and 21 goals for England. However, there was one major difference.

While Gerrard’s right boot has produced many magical moments for club and country, including that 2006 FA Cup Final equalizer against West Ham, his son appears to be left-footed. And the way he curled his spot-kick into the top corner suggests he can also wreak havoc on defenders in the future.

Young Li also seems content with a move to the Middle East. Another photo on social media shows him smiling in the stands wearing an Al-Ettifaq top, showing his support for his father’s new side.

This is not the first time that Li has worn the colors of Gerrard Sri. He was previously pictured in full Rangers kit following the iconic midfielder’s stint in Scotland where he won the top flight with the Gers.
