The Dallas Cowboys suffered an embarrassing loss at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers as quarterback Dak Prescott struggled mightily in a game that allowed their offense to score just 10 points.

Dak Prescott has been told that he cannot be considered an elite player after what he has shown this season.

The Dallas Cowboys have now been beaten hard in two of the last three weeks. After a shocking loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3, the San Francisco 49ers humiliated them on “Sunday Night Football.”

The Niners beat the Cowboys 42-10 as Prescott threw three interceptions and again struggled to make the most of his offensive skills, putting his defensive unit in a tough spot.

And Donte Whitner, an 11-year NFL safety, had harsh words for Prescott after his struggles continued against the Niners.

When talking about NBC Sports Bay Area and California game coverage, Whitner didn’t hold back. “Dak Prescott is screwed. Period. We talk a lot about Prescott being a top quarterback … a franchise guy, and I just don’t see it. I see them trying to hide what he’s missing, I see a lot of. quick throws and cutting half the court and giving him easy throws. “He’s not really a quarterback who can drop back and take advantage of defensive weaknesses and fix them. We’ve seen that.

Prescott and the Cowboys faced an in-form 49ers team on both sides of the ball, and the victory lifted them to a perfect 5-0 season. But the Dallas quarterback was extremely poor in his performance and that of the team.

“We didn’t see it coming. Put everything in it and got punched in the mouth. There was a call to demote him against Arizona a few weeks ago. But this might be the most humiliating game I’ve ever been a part of.

“We knew our preparation well, we felt good about everything, we came into this game honest and they beat us in every aspect.”

Prescott came into the season saying he wouldn’t throw 10 interceptions all season, but after throwing three against the Niners, he now has four on the season. The offense only managed 197 yards and the first down didn’t come until the second quarter. Meanwhile, the defensive unit allowed 420 yards and a whopping 6.3 yards per play — the Niners rested many starters in the fourth quarter.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said, “It’s a kick in the gut, it’s a kick in the ass, whatever phrase you want to put into it. We’re down. They beat us in all three phases. We clearly recognize that.”
