Andy Robertson will be sidelined with a shoulder injury and his absence could make way for Liverpool’s latest debutant, Luke Chambers.

The Liverpool left-back suffered a dislocated shoulder while playing in Scotland, with a prognosis ranging from weeks to months depending on the severity.

Of course we hope the scans are as positive as they can be and it will be several weeks without him and then Kostas Tsimikas will have to step up.

Tsimikas has never started more than two league games in a row, but if Robertson is out for, say, a month, he will be needed for four league games in a row.

And this is where Chambers enters the fray. Jurgen Klopp effortlessly rotated his squad from midweek to the weekend to keep his squad fresh and fired up.

With Tsimikas’ role changing due to Robertson’s injury, however long it lasts, Chambers is the only specialist left-back in the senior line-up.

The 19-year-old made his debut against Leicester last month and will be on Klopp’s mind as he plans for the coming weeks, which include Europa League and League Cup games.

Chambers enjoyed a prolific loan spell at Kilmarnock last season and has been linked with a move to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen in 2023/24. of registration in 2008, but due to injury it did not happen.

This ensured he could not be part of Klopp’s squad in pre-season either, but the youngster, who can also play at centre-back, will be hoping to be included in the squad in the coming weeks. He is currently on international duty with England Under-20s and was an unused substitute in Thursday’s defeat to Romania – which could be music to Klopp’s ears as he hopes his other players return unscathed.
