Kylian Mbappe Liverpool on as PSG’s £258m transfer request has been overshadowed by the forward’s contract decision

The Reds join Real in the recruitment

WHAT HAPPENED? Marco Kirdemir says the Reds are ready to invest around €300m to sign World Cup winner Mbappe. His future is once again up in the air after he told Paris Saint-Germain that he will not extend his contract until 2025. The decision has angered the staff at the Parc des Princes as the summer sales are now apparently upon us. .
WHAT THEY SAY: Kirdemir told Marca: “There will be news next week. We have news from England and Germany. Liverpool is competing with Real Madrid and wants to pay a fortune for Mbappe, this fortune would be around 300 million.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Kirdemir recently spoke to Qatari executives about Mbappe’s situation at PSG and officials there were “very angry” because they were “sure he will renew”. That is no longer the case and the Ligue 1 champions are aware they will have to listen to offers before the 24-year-old striker begins his push for free agency in 2024.

WHAT’S NEXT? Given the big offers that have hit the Santiago Bernabeu circles, long-time suitors Real Madrid were expected to lead the hunt for Mbappe, but Liverpool could join the hunt. The France international has admitted to being a fan of the Reds in the recent past.
