The latest round of Dallas Cowboys rumors offers plenty of potential solutions for the team entering the week. Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder believes the Cowboys’ priority should be defensive tackle, not linebacker. NFL Analyst has two-time Pro Bowler Linval Joseph at the top of the list of potential additions to the team.

“[Instead of adding a linebacker], they should look at the defense because Johnathan Hankins has struggled in that role this season, and outside of Osa Odighizuwa, the position group has been overwhelming for Dallas,” Holder explained. 17 October 2023. “Joseph has compiled a 13-year career as a full-time infielder and would give Dan Quinn another chance if Hankins doesn’t change things. In addition, the 35-year-old has the experience to join the team in the offseason and contribute. , having done so last year with the Eagles .

Joseph last started eight games for the Eagles in 2022 and had 20 tackles in the middle of the NFC champions’ defensive line. Jose previously worked for the Chargers, Vikings and Giants.

The Dallas Cowboys were interested in signing Linval Joseph before the Philadelphia Eagles killed those plans.

Given the national interest in the franchise, there’s no shortage of Cowboys-bound players, but the idea has some legs. Philadelphia made a postseason move for Joseph in 2022 and signed the defensive tackle last November. Dallas vice president of player personnel Will McClay revealed last offseason that the Cowboys were interested in signing Joseph, but the Eagles got the veteran first.

“It’s part of cap control and all the opportunities you have to improve your team,” McClay said in a Jan. 23 interview with the Cowboy Hour. “You know, Linval Joseph, we talked and I said, ‘Hey, maybe we can get him on the practice squad.’ And the next day, Philly signed [to the contract]. I think they messed up our phone.”

Dallas Cowboys Rumors: What Other Moves Could the Front Office Make?

Dallas is 4-2, but still has many areas for improvement. The good news is that the Cowboys have a bye in Week 7, which should allow the front office to reevaluate entering the second half of the season. Dallas has until the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline to complete a potential deal.

Aside from Joseph, what additional moves could the Cowboys make? Dallas needs to be honest about how much of a disappointment Michael Gallup has been as a third receiver. Will the Cowboys instead give extended opportunities to second-year wideouts Jalen Tolbert or KaVontae Turpin? It wouldn’t be a surprise if Dallas acquired another veteran for a late-round draft pick. Tight end is often cited as another need, but Dallas is more likely to give their young players repeaters at the position. After Leighton Vander Esch was injured, the Cowboys ended up signing veteran Rashaan Evans, but the team could move on to another linebacker to add depth.
