And the Reds’ first game back from the international break couldn’t be much bigger for supporters as they take on Everton in the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Saturday (12.30pm BST).

Really, the game is only three points on paper. But Jürgen Klopp knows well how important it is for supporters to claim City bragging rights.

Liverpool are already sweating on some of their key players ahead of Sean Dyche’s visit to Everton, with their injury list growing during the break. Here’s the latest on when some of those on the treatment table might return.

1. Cody Gakpo – Knee

The striker resigned just moments after scoring the equalizer in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham. Gakpo missed the Reds’ last two games and was dropped from Dutch duty. But Gakpo no longer uses a knee brace and moves on his own, and his problem is not as bad as first feared. Possible second leg: Everton (H), Sat 21 October. Photos: Ryan Pierse/Getty Images

2. Caoimhin Kelleher – knee

The goalkeeper suffered a concussion during training that required 12 stitches. He missed Liverpool’s previous two matches and was also left out of the Irish squad. Possible second leg: Everton (H), Saturday 21.10. Photo: Andrew Powell/Liverpool FC via Getty Images

3. Diogo Jota – suspension

The Porguesea striker is available again after a one-match ban. He played twice for his country’s national team during the international break. Return match: Everton (H), Saturday 21.10.

4. Andy Robertson – Shoulder

The left-back suffered his problem in Scotland’s 2-0 defeat to Spain last week. Robertson returned to Merseyside for treatment, although Scotland boss Steve Clarke was unsure of the severity of Robertson’s problem. Possible Return: N/A Photo: Andrew Powell/Liverpool FC via Getty Images
