Quarterback Dak Prescott led the team with an impressive performance, throwing for 272 yards and a touchdown. The game saw several lead changes, but in the end, the Cowboys secured the victory with a decisive interception by Stephon Gilmore.

Quarterback Dak Prescott led the way for the Cowboys. He completed 21 of 30 passes for 272 yards and contributed to his stellar performance. Prescott’s 2-yard pass to Brandin Cooks with 11:19 left was a remarkable moment in NFL history, making him the 30th quarterback to throw for at least one touchdown against 31 or more opponents.

The Chargers, who scored on the opening drive for the third time this season, started the game when Keenan Allen caught a 1-yard pass from Justin Herbert on third down. Key plays on that drive included a 28-yard field goal by Austin Ekeler that moved the Chargers to the Cowboys’ 4-yard line.

However, Dallas quickly responded with a perfectly executed zone read by Prescott. On fourth-and-1 at the Chargers’ 18, Prescott elected to keep the ball and ran 18 yards to tie the game. The Cowboys took a 10-7 halftime lead after Brandon Aubrey’s 32-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter. The Chargers responded with a 32-yard field goal by Cameron Dicker late in the third quarter to tie the game.

The key play came when Dak Prescott connected with Brandin Cooks for a 2-yard touchdown. It was aided by Tony Pollard’s 60-yard reception. On the opening play of the fourth quarter, Prescott’s rush and quick pass to Pollard created an opportunity for the Cowboys to regain the lead. The Chargers had a moment to tie it again when a bad drive by the Cowboys caused an accidental turnover. After Jalen Tolbert fumbled the ball and the Chargers’ Amen Ogbongbemi recovered it, the Chargers successfully challenged the original ruling and the game was once again tied. In the end, the Cowboys had one last chance to seal the victory. Stephon Gilmore’s crucial interception at LA’s 33-yard line with 1:22 left thwarted the Chargers’ last-ditch effort to send the game into overtime. That pivotal play followed Micah Parsons’ sack of Justin Herbert for an 8-yard loss that ended in a 20–17 Cowboys victory. The win marks the Cowboys’ 10th in an 11-game losing streak, showing their determination to bounce back and remain a formidable force in the NFL.
