Samuel signed his mega contract extension with the 49ers before the 2022 season, so he only has thre e games with more than 100 yards.

He was an All Pro two years ago as the focal point of the 49ers offense. A man left. One of the most dangerous weapons in the NFL. As a result, the 49ers gave him an extension that averages nearly $24 million per season, even though he requested a trade. Then in 2022, he was overweight and out of shape, which he admitted a few months ago. He said he is back committed to his work and is in the best shape of his life. He looked destined to have another great season like he had in 2021. But that didn’t happen.

Since Samuel signed his mega-deal with the 49ers before the 2022 season, he has only three games of 100+ yards and two of those came against the Rams, a team he always goes against. Also, Samuel only scored 7 touchdowns and missed five games. And a few weeks ago against Arizona, he played but wasn’t a factor because he was injured and had 3 carries for 6 yards and no catches.

And yet, Samuel is the 49ers player who talks the most. He went on the press tour after the NFC Championship Game and said the 49ers will expose Eagles cornerback James Bradberry if Brock Purdy is healthy. Then, last week, he repeatedly went back and forth with Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons after the 49ers beat them. Samuel then went toe-to-toe with the Browns before Sunday’s loss. And now he’s openly competing with Lions safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.

Samuel needs to stop whining and start earning his contract.
