The New York Giants signed Sean Harlow from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad.

The Dallas Cowboys rumors are heating up despite the team having a down week, but it’s not all good news. The Giants signed offensive lineman Sean Harlow off the Cowboys’ practice squad.

“More injuries to Giants O-line: G Shane Lemieux tore biceps in practice yesterday and went on IR,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted on Oct. 19, 2023. “To fill his spot, team signed OL Sean Harlow. Cowboy practice squad.”

Some fans are probably wondering how New York can remove Harlow from Dallas’ roster. The NFL allows teams to receive players from an opponent’s practice squad (as with the Harlow Cowboys) as long as the person is added to the active roster. Translation: Players are better off signing a 53-man deal than a practice squad deal.

The move won’t cost Dallas on the field, as Harlow has only played one game for the Cowboys this season. Before joining the Cowboys, Harlow worked for the Falcons and Cardinals. Harlow also spent time with the Giants last season. NFL teams can get Intel from players from their former franchises

This isn’t the first time the Giants have targeted the Cowboys for more players. One of the more notable moves was after the 2021 release, when New York signed former Dallas Pro Bowl linebacker Jaylon Smith.

The Cowboys have one game left this season against the Giants on November 12th. Earlier this season, Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer admitted that the team plans to use Trey Lance’s knowledge of the 49ers. Clearly, Lance’s contribution didn’t move the needle when Dallas lost to San Francisco 42-10. “Trey knows a little bit about what they’re doing,” Schottenheimer noted in an Oct. 2 press conference. – Like I said, it’s great that the team knows them well.

“I know them well from Seattle. Trey knows them well. But like last week [with the Patriots and Will Grier], it’s kind of fun and humor. We all use the parts we have, but we don’t go overboard. We know exactly what they’re going to do because they don’t do too much and they’re still very, very hard to counter just because they’re so talented.”

Cowboys Rumors: Will Dallas Make A Move Before NFL’s Oct. 31 Trade Deadline?

As for the Cowboys, it remains to be seen how aggressive the team will be at the trade deadline. Three possible positions Dallas’ front office could include linebacker, wide receiver and cornerback.

Dallas has until the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline to make a deal. League insider Jordan Schultz cited Dallas as a potential buyer nearing the deadline.

Linebacker and cornerback make sense given the injuries to Leighton Vander Esch and Trevon Diggs. Receiver would be the answer to the underperformance at the position, with CeeDee Lamb being the only consistent performer through the first six weeks of the season. There are sure to be plenty of Cowboys rumors heading into the trade deadline in the coming weeks.
