Napoli make Victor Osimhen admission amid Liverpool interest as Jurgen Klopp confirms Robertson surgery blow

Liverpool face neighbors Everton at Anfield in the Merseyside derby on Saturday, but Jurgen Klopp’s men were dealt a hammer blow before lunch.

Liverpool will be looking for their first Premier League win in three games when they host local rivals Everton in Saturday’s Merseyside derby.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are just three points off the top of the Premier League table despite a controversial VAR-induced defeat at Tottenham, followed by further points at relegated Brighton. And the 12.30pm kick-off at Anfield means they temporarily can’t go head-to-head with their Championship rivals until later.

Meanwhile, the Toffees secured a rare win by beating Bournemouth 3-0 before the international break. But the Reds will remain ferocious against Sean Dyche’s relegation-threatened side, whose last derby win came on away goals as Carlo Ancelotti guided the team to a 2-0 victory. Here are the latest Anfield headlines from the past 24 hours….

Klopp confirms that Robertson needs surgery

Andy Robertson faces three months on the sidelines after Liverpool decided to undergo surgery on his shoulder injury.

Robertson was injured in a collision with Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon at half-time before Scotland’s 2-0 defeat last Thursday. The 29-year-old was substituted in obvious pain and was later diagnosed with a dislocated right shoulder.

Speaking ahead of the Merseyside derby on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp confirmed the strike. “The decision is that we will do the operation,” he explained. “He had a chance to try without, but after talking to the specialists, surgery is the best thing for him especially in the long term. He will be out for a while, we don’t know exactly how long.”

Napoli makes an entrance to Osimhen

How much should Liverpool offer for Osimhen? Let us know in the comments below!

Liverpool have received a new boost in their pursuit of striker Victor Osimhen.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis revealed that negotiations over a new contract have stalled, saying: “I’ve never been calm about Osimheni, but it takes two to tango,” he said.

– I remain the same, if his mood has changed, I can’t do anything about it. If things change after a handshake, it’s a disappointment, we’ll consider that, but life goes on. We have good relations with him, the contract is valid until 2025, so there is time.»

Oxlade-Chamberlain ‘never talked’ about contract talks

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has claimed that Liverpool did not inform him of the offer of a new contract until just days before his release.

In an interview with The Athletic, the former Arsenal and Southampton man was asked when he found out he was leaving and he said: “It was never said. Obviously I got the picture. I was told before the statement was released: “We just know we will about your leaving Milly, Bobby and Naby.” “And I said, ‘Oh, okay.’ Thank you.” But there was nothing official before. Only… the silence was enough to know what the situation was.”
