Osimhen’s future has been much debated recently. With less than two years left on his current deal, there have been rumors that he could soon leave Napoli.

To that end, Liverpool was one of the clubs strongly linked with a move. Only yesterday it was claimed in the Italian press that the Nigerian had already signed a contract with the Reds. In light of this, journalist Fabrizio Romano shared some quotes from Napoli manager Mauro Meluso on Twitter. Meluso insists that while Osimhen is taking time to decide on his future, there is nothing unusual about it.

“The chairman will meet with Viktor’s agent in the coming weeks to discuss this,” says the manager.

“It is also normal that Osimhen needs some time to think about the contract offer we made.”

Looks like there are a lot more twists and turns in this one. Is Liverpool involved? Only time will tell.

 Osimhen began negotiations with Naples

There is still not too much panic in Napoli about the Osimheni situation. Time is running out on his contract, but they still have a lot of time before they have to worry.

If nothing is done before spring, we may have to accept the loss of a 24-year-old.

If that happens, the Italians will be looking to recoup as much as possible of the £70m they spent on Osimhen. With the summer a year left on the contract, it could be a bit difficult.

This means that even if his price is significantly reduced, we do not see Liverpool being involved. The Reds just don’t need a player like the Nigeria international right now.

So assuming Liverpool don’t sign him, it’s in our best interests that Osimhen can agree something with Napoli. If he does move on, it will likely be to a Premier League rival. As he is a truly elite striker, this could be bad news for the Reds. In any case, Osimhen’s situation should be monitored in the coming months.
