$86,474: This is the new total the league has fined players for penalties against San Francisco 49ers star linebacker Christian McCaffrey. In a Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns, Browns linebacker Za’Darius Smith drew a masking penalty on McCaffrey. As a result, he was fined $10,297.

Along with Smith in Week 6, here’s the full list of player fines from Christian McCaffrey’s suspension, via Matt Barrows of X of The Athletic:

Week 3: New York Giants linebacker Jihad Ward – Face mask: $8,153

Week 4: Arizona Cardinals linebacker Ezekiel Turner – Mask: $10,927

Week 4: Arizona Cardinals safety Jalen Thompson – Illegal hit: $18,222

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson – Mask: $10,927

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson – Unnecessary roughness: $16,391

This absurd list suggests the frustration and struggle of playing football with Christian McCaffrey. One of the most intimidating and versatile defensive backs in the league, McCaffrey was a major concern in most defensive coordinators’ game plans. Unfortunately, McCaffrey seems to be at his best against NFL defenses, forcing opponents to make very costly mistakes.

Christian McCaffrey has seven rushing and a pair of touchdowns on the season. He is number one at his position and shows no signs of slowing down. Despite suffering the injury in Week 6, McCaffrey is expected to play Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings. Let’s see if that amount crosses the $100,000 mark before the end of the season.
