Owner Jerry Jones and the team’s senior leadership are taking their time adjusting the roster as the Dallas Cowboys return from their bye week. With plenty of time and room to maneuver before taking on the Los Angeles Rams on October 28, Dallas, who are 4-2 going into Week 8, can make adjustments.

Michael Gehlken of Dallas Morning News was the first to report on the most recent roster changes. Along with revealing that offensive tackle Alex Taylor-Prioleau and linebacker Mikel Jones were being cut from the practice squad, Gehlken also provided some speculation on what could be coming up for the Cowboys and head coach Mike McCarthy.

“Cowboys cut LB Mikel Jones and OT Alex Taylor-Prioleau from the practice squad. There haven’t been any replacements introduced as of yet, but activity in the coming days seems likely. The Cowboys tried out a number of individuals last week, and their current 16-man practice squad consists of 12, according to Gehlken’s October 23 post on X.

Even if Taylor-Prioleau and Jones are only PS members, this is quite unexpected. NFL teams usually have a fully manned practice squad.Dallas now has four open positions; however, it is unclear how they plan to fill them.

Jerry Jones Dismisses Dallas Wide Receiver Michael Gallup

Although it doesn’t seem likely, Jerry Jones recently called out Cowboys starting wide receiver Michael Gallup specifically. Due to his ongoing recovery from an ACL tear, the veteran wide receiver has not performed well this season.

Jones said as much following the team’s victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6. Gallup’s poor performance continued as he only managed three receptions for 24 yards.

“I felt like Gallup had a little trouble in the game,” Jones stated on October 17 on 105.3 The Fan.”I believe he is still evolving. Our receivers played well [against the Chargers on October 16], and I know he gets weary of hearing this, but he’s still working to recover from his injury.

It’s a challenging circumstance. Gallup, on the one hand, sustained a serious ACL injury. But Gallup hasn’t regularly performed well enough to be Dallas’ starting receiver. Aside from his impressive showings against the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals, he had only 52 receiving yards in the Cowboys’ previous four games.

Giants ‘Poached’ PS Member of the Cowboys

Dallas has available practice squad spots in part because of the New York Giants. Sean Harlow, an offensive lineman, was recently added by the Cowboys’ NFC East foe, the Dallas practice squad.

On October 19, NFL Network insider Ian Rapaport broke the story first. Harlow became a member of the Giants’ active roster as a result of the practice squad signing regulations. That implies that the Cowboys will play Harlow in Week 10 when New York visits Arlington, Texas, provided he is still available on the roster as of November 12.
