For the first five weeks of the 2023 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers looked unbeatable as the team played the best football in the league.

However, the 49ers have managed to lose two straight games, with the most recent loss coming to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football.

It was another poor performance from San Francisco, unable to pressure Kirk Cousins and struggling offensively to get many explosive plays.

Christian McCaffrey was able to overcome his oblique injury and score twice, but the rest of the team was relatively quiet.

Even without Deebo Samuel, the 49ers had enough to get the job done against the Vikings’ mediocre defense, but fell short. Although San Francisco is in a tough spot right now, Colin Cowherd believes they will make a deep postseason run in The Herd.

“I think I know how it’s going to end for San Francisco. They’re going to go to the NFC Championship or the Super Bowl and you’re going to fall,” Cowherd said.

Cowherd explains that San Francisco is struggling because of its offensive style and the limitations of Brock Purdy, who had another subgame.

There is some truth to that, as Kyle Shanahan-led teams have tried to dominate possession and let their defense keep opponents in check.

However, Shanahan and his coaching staff will have to go back to the drawing board and find a way to get back on track as these last two weeks have put their status as a contender in doubt.
