Jackson Hastings is reacting to claims a return to Salford Red Devils could be likely

JACKSON HASTINGS has responded to claims by infamous Australian journalist The Mole that have linked the Newcastle Knights side with a return to Salford Red Devils.

Hastings impressed for Salford during a season and a half at the club in 2018 and 2019, winning the Steve Prescott Man of Steel in the latter year before moving to Wigan Warriors in 2020.

At Wigan, Hastings inspired the Warriors to the Super League final, but his side lost at St Helens.

The 27-year-old signed with the NRL’s Wests Tigers before moving to the Knights, where he helped the Hunter club reach the finals in 2023.

But The Mole previously reported that Salford are considering Hastings as a possible replacement for the departing Brodie Croft. “He has just bought a house in Newcastle and is happy there,” a source close to Hastings told Wide World of Sports.

“Not yet converted, but we heard whispers.

“Jackson still has many friends at Salford and fond memories of the club.

“So he’ll wait and see if anything comes of it.”

However, Hastings himself denied the claims, tweeting to X: “The reports this morning about my future are completely false and made up about me. I’m extremely happy, relaxed and loving my football at Newcastle and can’t wait to build. at the start of our season. Don’t believe everything you read. Go to @NRLKnights.
