Jurgen Klopp has admitted there will be changes to the squad that beat Everton 2-0 at Anfield last weekend, but#039;not too many and#039; boss insisted Liverpool take Europe’s second-tier competition seriously.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Klopp gave an update on some of his squad’s availability issues and question marks.
Andy Robertson
The Liverpool manager confirmed that Andy Robertson underwent surgery on his shoulder injury on Wednesday, but refused to set a timetable for the left back’s recovery. He said: “Robbo had the operation and everything went as well as possible, so the recovery starts when he wakes up. I think it happened this morning. That’s it. We don’t know how long it’s going to take or whatever, but the first the step is taken, it is good.andquot;

Cody Gakpo
Meanwhile, Cody Gakpo is available again and could face Toulouse as he recovers from a knee injury sustained against Tottenham last month. Klopp revealed: “Cody is now in full training from Sunday, which means he’s available for the team. Whatever we do with it, we’ll have to see, but that’s good too.”

Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic
On a less positive note, Klopp admitted that Spanish duo Thiago Alcantara is still not in team training. because they continue to struggle with long-standing problems.
Bajcetic, 19, who suffered a season-ending injury in March, played twice in 2023/24 but has since suffered a calf strain which has prevented him from returning to full fitness.

The youngster picked up a muscle problem during a break with Scotland under-21s, but the problem is not believed to be serious.
Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones is available for Wednesday’s game but will miss Sunday’s Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.
The midfielder, who was sent off in the Spurs defeat, has served two three-match bans for league games only.
