As the Green Bay Packers prepare to face the Minnesota Vikings (3-4) on Sunday, Rasul Douglas has been one of the best players on the Packers’ defense. He is 28 years old and has a year left on his contract after this season.
The Dallas Cowboys need help in the second game. Dallas’ middle game hasn’t been the same since Trevon Diggs suffered a season-ending injury several weeks ago. Pro Football Network’s Dallas Robinson thinks the Dallas Cowboys should trade Green Bay Packers fifth-round pick Rasul Douglas in 2024.
Robinson said of Douglas, who could suit up for the Cowboys:
“The Cowboys acquired CB Noah Igbinoghene from the Dolphins, but the trade was deeper than anything else. Igbinoghene is a former first-round pick, but he was never a realistic option to replace Trevon Diggs. Instead, Dallas moved slot corner DaRon Lahe. out to play with Stephon Gilmore. He was great, but Jourdan Lewis struggled inside. Are the Cowboys considering adding another outside CB and moving Bland back to nickel? Rasul Douglas has spent time in and out during his NFL career, so he would give Dallas options. He’s also under contract through 2024, so he could remain on the Cowboys’ roster and take over for Gilmore, who is set to hit free agency next spring.
This would be a great move for the Dallas Cowboys, who are currently 4-2 on the year. They prepare to face the Los Angeles Rams (3-4) on Sunday. The Green Bay Packers trading Rasul Douglas to the Dallas Cowboys for a fifth round pick would receive a huge backlash from the fan base.
Green Bay is currently 2-4 on the year, and the fan base has been quite critical of general manager Brian Gutekunst. If they were to trade Douglas to the Dallas Cowboys for a fifth round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, fans would be calling for his immediate firing.
On the Dallas side, this would be great for them. They’re in win-now mode, and they’re looking to improve that defense in the background. Elite secondary helps Micah Parsons in the pass department. Rasul Douglas has 27 tackles, one fumble recovery, one interception and six sacks this season. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones likes his roster. Adding Douglas via trade to the Cowboys’ roster, on the other hand, would add insult to injury for the Packers in the 2023 season.
