Darwin Nunez is aiming to start Sunday’s Premier League clash at Anfield

Liverpool’s absentee list is known for Nottingham Forest’s Premier League visit to Merseyside this weekend.

The Reds will be without robust left-back Andy Robertson for Sunday’s clash at Anfield after the Scotland captain suffered a shoulder injury against Spain in a Euro 2024 qualifier last international season.

Robertson was initially said to likely need surgery and that surgery was completed this week as he now begins rehab with an unclear return to work schedule.

Assistant manager Kostas Tsimikas was at left-back for Liverpool in the Merseyside derby win against Everton last weekend, while teenager Luke Chambers started in France’s 5-1 Europa League rout of Toulouse on Thursday.

Another youngster, Callum Scanlon, also got minutes in that game, while Jurgen Klopp also assigned Joe Gomez as a possible left-back if needed. But it is in Tsimika that it should start again on Sunday, a largely unchanged XI from last weekend is expected and after the derby attacks of Liverpool and Europe.

Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic remain injured, while youngster Ben Doak has also been sidelined recently and Curtis Jones will serve the final game of his ban this weekend.

The back half and midfield three look pretty set but the only changes could come from Klopp joining Mohamed Salah in the back three as the Egyptian broke Thierry Henryand#039’s 18-year Premier League record on Thursday. all-time European goals for one club.

Salah got a last-gasp goal against Toulouse in the 20th minute, but will surely start again here with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota leading the Europa League.
