Rayshawn Jenkins’ brutal response to George Pickens “hope” comments following the Jaguars’ victory against the Steelers

The Jacksonville Jaguars won their fifth straight game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8, and it’s evident there was more on the line for Jacksonville’s defense after George Pickens referred to them as a “hope defense” previous to their meeting. Pickens’ words were not appreciated by the Jaguars, according to safety Rayshawn Jenkins after the game.

When discussing Jacksonville’s defense, he stated that they rely mainly on their front seven to wreak havoc because their secondary is lacking, thus the phrase “hope defense.” While Pickens had a great touchdown on the day, the Jaguars won, and Jenkins took some jabs at Pickens after Jacksonville’s latest triumph.

When you offer us bulletin board stuff like that, we will, of course, come out and show you how we play this game. We put a lot of effort into this game, and someone disrespecting us like way hurt us. He’s a young man who, hopefully, will learn not to bark up the wrong tree. Going back to that hope issue, buddy, like I keep saying, we were just hoping they’d come in here and put up a stronger fight than that, you know?” Jaguars.com’s Rayshawn Jenkins

Pickens’ sole grab of the day was a 22-yard touchdown, and while that may have been owing to Mitch Trubisky being pushed into action due to Kenny Pickett’s early injury, the Jaguars proved Pickens wrong in this one. Jenkins led the way for Jacksonville’s secondary in this one, and the entire squad will enter their bye week on a high after another big win over the Steelers.
