Chris Sutton believes Liverpool will win 3-0 away to Luton Town in their Premier League match on Sunday (5 November).

The Reds are flying high in the table, sitting fourth with 23 points from 10 games. They are three points behind league leaders Tottenham Hotspur and have won all three of their UEFA Champions League group-stage games thus far.

Meanwhile, Luton Town are 18th in the table with five points and one win from ten games in their first top-flight season in 31 years. At Kenilworth Road, Sutton feels the Reds will have too much firepower for the Hatters.

In his BBC column, the former Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers forward made the following predictions:

“Luton apparently doesn’t get spanked at home, according to Statman Dave.” I’m not convinced because I recall when they played Tottenham at Kenilworth Road in early October, and Spurs might have been up 4-0 in the opening 15 minutes [Spurs beat Luton Town 1-0 away from home on 7 October].

“To be fair to the Hatters, they are making the best fist of life in the top flight out of all the promoted teams, but I don’t see them coping with Liverpool’s array of attacking talent.”

The last time the two teams met in the league was in January 1992, when Liverpool triumphed 2-1. They’ve met three times in cup competitions since then, with the Reds winning twice and drawing once [the game was replayed in the 2008 FA Cup].

Liverpool defeated Bournemouth before of their match against Luton Town.

Liverpool advanced to the Carabao Cup quarterfinals after defeating Bournemouth on Wednesday (1 November).

Cody Gakpo opened the goal in the 31st minute at Vitality Stadium. However, a goal by Justin Kluivert just after the hour mark startled the visiting spectators.

In the 70th minute, Darwin Nunez grabbed control of the situation. The Uruguayan striker struck a rasping effort from the edge of the box into the far corner from a challenging angle after a careless first touch from a long cross.

Liverpool held on to their lead to advance to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, a competition they have won a record nine times. On December 19, they will face West Ham United for a place in the semifinals.
