This year’s trade deadline saw the Green Bay Packers become sellers. The Packers sent DB Rasul Douglas and a fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a third-round pick. To many fans, the move indicated that the Packers are either rebuilding or acknowledging that they will not be competitive this season.

The Packers will have five picks in the first three rounds of the 2024 draft after receiving a third-round pick for Douglas. While this means the Packers can still improve through the draft, the team may be interested in bringing in someone this season to relieve pressure on Jordan Love.

Green Bay Packers Linked To Tackle La’el Collins After 2023 Trade Deadline

Collins has a low floor and a lofty ceiling. He’s not the player he once was due to a string of knee injury, but if the Packers believe he can stay healthy, his versatility as a tackle or guard is appealing.

Through eight weeks, the Packers’ offensive line is ranked 19th by Pro Football Network. Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love has been sacked at least once in six of the team’s seven games. In three of those games, he was sacked more than once. He’s been sacked four or more times twice.

Bringing in veteran offensive line help would make sense, even if it was just to boost Love’s development this year. The next ten games of Love’s Green Bay career will tell the front office a lot and will most likely determine Love’s future with the team. Getting him protection to make plays and demonstrate his abilities is critical for everyone concerned.

Collins has appeared in 89 games throughout his career, starting 86 of them. That level of experience on the offensive line would be tremendously valuable.
