The Dallas Cowboys suffered their third loss of the season in Week 8, falling 28-23 to the rival Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are the NFL’s last one-loss team and, according to ESPN, the league’s best.

But, as Week 9 approaches, where does Dallas stand in the power rankings?

According to ESPN, the Cowboys dropped five spots to No. 9 after the loss in Philadelphia, and wideout CeeDee Lamb was awarded the team’s midseason non-quarterback MVP.

“Lamb is on pace to break the Cowboys’ single-season records for catches (121) and yards (1,751), surpassing Hall of Famer Michael Irvin.” He’s the first Dallas receiver to have back-to-back 150-yard games since Miles Austin in 2009. In his career, he had 14 100-yard receiving games, trailing only Hall of Famer Bob Hayes (15). Despite the increased focus from defenses, Lamb continues to make a lot of plays whether he lines up outside or in the slot. Todd Archer’s”

Quarterback Dak Prescott is definitely in that debate as well (as is Micah Parsons), and he had maybe his greatest statistical game in Sunday’s loss to the Eagles… but he was not faultless.

Prescott finished 29-for-44 for 374 yards and three touchdowns. However, he also missed vital readings that may have changed the outcome of the game. Lamb also had a standout day, catching 11 passes for 191 yards on 16 targets. None of that was enough to overcome the NFC East-leading Eagles, who now have a two-game lead in the division plus the tiebreaker over Dallas.

On Sunday at AT&T Stadium, Prescott and the Cowboys will hope for a “get right” game against the New York Giants. New York will be out for vengeance after losing 40-0 to the Cowboys in Week 1.
