The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office took the starting wide receiver for the Jaguars into custody on Monday night.

According to jail records, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones was taken into custody by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Monday on suspicion of a misdemeanor domestic assault complaint.

After 6 p.m., the sheriff’s office booked Jones, 28.

“We are aware of the circumstances and are currently obtaining data. A Jaguars representative issued a statement, saying, “At this time, we will not be providing any more comments.

Jones is scheduled to appear in court for the first time on Tuesday at 9 a.m., per jail records.

Jones signed a three-year, $24 million contract in 2022 with $14 million in guarantees, and he is now in his second season with the team.

In his first season with the team, Jones caught 82 passes for 823 yards and five touchdowns. He also started two playoff games and made appearances in 16 regular-season games. During the playoffs, Jones caught 13 catches for 157 yards and a touchdown.

Jones has only played in three games this season after suffering a knee injury in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He didn’t leave the game throughout any of the four quarters in any other game save Week 1, however he did make a quick comeback in Week 2.

Following his two-week absence, Jones made a comeback against the Buffalo Bills in Week Five. There, he caught five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown before his ailment flared up once more in the second half.

Jones has hauled in eight passes for 78 yards this season, including two of Trevor Lawrence’s nine touchdown touchdowns.
